Autodesk University 2013 is hosting CAM Mania!
I didn’t know what that was either. Here’s what the press release stated:
CAM MANIA is a competition where users compete against one another to show if they have what it takes to quickly turn 3D models into machined parts using Inventor HSM Express and our new CAM Solution to be unveiled at Autodesk University 2013. The three grand prize winners will win a trip to the Autodesk Workshop at Pier 9 in San Francisco.
Here’s the Deal
While at Autodesk University 2013, head for the CAM MANIA ‘area’. These are shown to be near AU registration and the Autodesk CAM booth in the exhibit hall. I vote for the exhibit hall. Robotic machinery and beer. What could go wrong
Then: setup an NC job to post as if you were going to run the project.
- Select a model
- Create WCS and save setup
- Create and simulate toolpaths needed to machine part, and the NC code to complete the job.
- View and back plot you NC code in the CAM code editor.
I suspect the fastest guys (or gals) get the prizes. The Daily grand prize is a trip to Pier 9 workshop to compete in the finals!
Autodesk: I still say you should award the winner a new HAAS mill.
