Civil 3D | Multiple Leaders Aligned in Separate Viewports Solution

image.png

On the Civil 3D discussion group, there was a post requesting help getting an MText label with 2 leaders attached, to line up with text orthogonal in 2 different views. After trying to solve it, I realized I had never encountered the exact combination requested. The Qleader (MText attached leaders) will always rotate and align to the MText rotation. In the Viewport to the right the view is twisted, but the MText rotation is still [...] ...Read the rest of this article...

Civil 3D | Do you use Civil 3D for As-Built data?

image

Civil 3D is the king of the hill for Civil Design, and can develop elegant and detailed construction plans. Using Objects provided by the application, such as Surfaces, Pipes, Structures, Gradings, etc, revisions that would have taken a week can be performed in a day’s time. I did say ‘can be’. Here’s a simple and quick idea to consider next time you are beating out an initial concept. Use the awesome capabilities of Multi-body modeling to create separate components in an assembly, but don’t add Dimensional or Geometric constraints…yet. Look, let’s say you’re having trouble working some details out in your mind. You want to start adding rough components and then refine them later. Perfect. Not adding dimensions and the like make things so much easier [...] ...Read the rest of this article...
